How it works
The number die picks a base rung. The element die tempers it into the actual strike slot. If that slot is empty, the strike slips clockwise until it finds a card, so a committed board usually does something.
Agni shifts +1. Jal shifts −1. Vayu shifts to the opposite rung. Prithvi leaves the rung exact. Blank element = exact, plain.
Only the tempered slot resolves at turn end. The variant is deliberately more arithmetic and less glanceable than the selected slate.
Element legend
Agni — Quench Hot: target = next rung clockwise. Fired card gains +2 effect and leaves Heat +1 on its slot.
Jal — Fold Back: target = previous rung. After firing, the rightmost other card slides into the leftmost empty slot.
Vayu — Crosswind: target = opposite rung. Fired card returns to hand and you draw 1.
Prithvi — Anvil: target = exact rung. Fired card stays on the board as a Bolt instead of discarding.
Blank element — Plain: target = exact rung, no rider.
Akasha — Shunya: costs 2. Clears all Heat and Bolts, then every occupied slot fires at half effect this turn.
