Rules
Rolling an element fills that element's well, and wells pay for everything you do — but no two wells work the same way.
- Two dice, always. A number die (1–4 or blank) and an element die (Agni / Jal / Vayu / Prithvi or blank).
- Play cards into the 4 numbered slots. The first roll each turn is free — once you roll, placement is locked for the rest of the turn.
- Element die pours charge into that well. Blank pours 1 into all four (clogs silence wells from Prithvi backwards).
- The number die picks a SLOT by position (1–4). Cards carry no numbers. If the element die also matches the card sitting in that slot → LOCKED, fires at turn end. Number only → PRIMED: fires free next turn if that card's well holds 3+. Akasha cards (Shunya) lock on the number alone.
- Charge is your only energy. Each well spends by its own law — see the legend. Rerolls cost 2 (only 1 from Vayu).
- Cards left in slots at turn end clog and choke your income until you clear them.
Kill the Betaal Sentinel before it kills you.
Element legend — what each well DOES
AGNI — Detonator. No cap, never decays. Cannot be spent in part: detonating empties the well and deals 2 damage per charge.
JAL — Spillway. Hard cap 4; overflow spills into Prithvi. Granular: 1 = slide a card to an empty slot, 2 = blunt the enemy's next attack by 5.
VAYU — Gust. Empties to 0 every turn end. Cheapest currency: reroll for 1, and 1 charge draws 2 cards.
PRITHVI — Ladder. Never spends (except by the Null Well), never decays. 3: each card placed grants 2 Block. 6: clogs stop choking income. 9: slot 4 fires on a number-only match, no prime check.
AKASHA — Null Well. Gate: at enemy 50% HP, Shunya enters your hand. Place it, then the number die alone locks it — any element, no prime check. Firing it opens a one-time 2:1 conversion between any two wells, then seals.
Generic costs (reroll, paid draw, clear slot) can only be paid from Jal or Vayu. Agni is all-or-nothing; Prithvi never spends. That is the whole point — and the Null Well is the one advertised exception: its single 2:1 conversion may take 2 out of any well, Agni and Prithvi included.
